Supervision Requirements

Time Commitment:

In order to participate in supervision, supervisees must hold employment and work at least 30 hours per week. A commitment of 2 years is required for clinical supervision. To be eligible for LCSW exam approval, each supervisee must accumulate 100 hours of supervision and work a total of 3,000 hours within a minimum of 24 months, before submitting final forms to the board.

Does My Job Qualify?

For supervised clinical experience to be acceptable, each practice location must encompass the role of social work.  At least one practice location must provide the supervisee a minimum of 4 hours per week of direct clinical practice, gaining competency using specialized clinical knowledge and advanced skills to assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions, and addictions. Treatment methods must include individual, marital, couple, family, or group psychotherapy.
